Comment j’ai découvert « She works hard for the money » l’hiver 1983

Celle de « She Works Hard for the Money » par Donna Summer, véritable diva. »

CD - PAPERSLEEVE - VINYL REPLICA DELUXE
The CD cover is identical to the original Vinyl Album and the CD is black with the appearance of vinyl and digitally remastered in high definition. I did not wait for Thanksgiving to hear the successful facelift of this dance pop album, far from the first electro-disco diva style of these unforgettable songs.

1983: How France discovers
the video « She works hard for the money »

During December of 1983 in Paris with glittering garlands that rise on the Champs-Elysées from the Concorde to the Place de l’Etoile. I was a soldier in France on leave and I was walking on the this famous Avenue towards the Arc de Triomphe. I had sore from my new shoes but I keep walking until I came upon a famous record store in Paris. They were playing the popular music videos of the time.

As I was admiring this, I noticed a giant video screen created by a of wall of televisions playing Michael Jackson’s spectacular « Thriller » video. A curious and admiring Parisian crowd watched these irresistible American clips that looked like real movies. The « Thriller » zombies give way to new type of choreography that enchanted an ever growing crowd. Afterwards Donna Summer’s « She Works Hard for the Money » was played. What a true diva she was.  It was impossible not to fall in love. Meanwhile, the new FM radio was already playing the second single « Unconditional Love » from the album. A song that has the participation of sympathetic Musical Youth.

A remarkable B side

The « She works hard for the money » Album hides a small absolute gem composed by Donna Summer, whose songwriting talent since the late 70s, no longer needed to be proven: « I Do Believe (I Fell in Love) », originally published on the B side of the single « She Works Hard for the Money. » This ballad with romantic and relaxing tones takes us without heed to a powerful tempo. For me it was a good way to finish the album with the magic of Christmas in the air and a definitive demonstration of the immense talent of Donna Summer. Then the new year 1984 arrived. This album, more than 30 years later is not dated through the remarkable remastering of Culture Factory.
